Bobby on Access Hollywood

Bobby Brown On Britney's 'Prerogative'

Bobby Brown hit Jimmy Kimmel's late night couch on Thursday and made it his "prerogative" to weigh in on a certain pop star who's covering his music. But not before he spoke with Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson about wife Whitney Houston and how the couple has been able to stay strong after 12 years together.

"Well, they tried to tear us down as much as possible," Bobby told Shaun. "I mean, they threw everything at us and we're still together."

"They said it was going to last about a week," Robinson noted. "You proved them wrong."

"Yeah, I know. I know. That's probably why we're still together," he admitted.

Indeed, Bobby had no problems professing his love for Whitney, whose comeback performance at the World Music Awards had the crowd on its feet and the music industry cheering.

And although Bobby wasn't at the awards, he was still able to catch Whitney's amazing performance via phone.

"She talked to me right before she went on stage. She called me...and had someone hold the phone while she was on stage. So as soon as she walked off, she grabbed the phone and was like, 'How was I?' and I was lost for words," he revealed. "She's incredible. She's an incredible lady and I'm just glad to have her in my life."

But it was Bobby who was doing the singing on Thursday night as a guest on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," singing his hit "My Prerogative."

Of course, someone else has been belting out that tune lately too -- the new Mrs. Kevin Federline, aka Britney Spears.

So what does Bobby think of Brit's interpretation? We showed him the music video and got his take on Brit's cover.

"I love the video," he told us. "I'm not impressed with the music."

"What don’t you like about it?" Shaun asked.

"It's not mine," he added.

And while the song states "I don't need permission...", did the pop princess at least have Bobby's blessing beforehand?

"Yes she did," he continued. "I was fine with it. I didn't mind. It's gonna make me some money."

But if Britney wants to get those dance steps perfected, Bobby said he's only a phone call away.

"Call me Britney. We'll get together and I'll show you how to really do it," he said.
