Whitney Houston Debuts Atop Euro Chart

Whitney Houston mirrors her Billboard 200 success with a No. 1 debut on European Top 100 Albums with her comeback set "I Look To You" (Arista/RCA/Sony Music Entertainment). There's also a new champion on European Hot 100 Singles, where David Guetta scores his second No. 1 in less than two months with "Sexy Chick" (Gum/Positiva/Virgin/EMI), featuring Akon.

Houston was last on the pan-European survey at the end of 2007 with Arista's "Ultimate Collection," which reached No. 10. The 2002 ballads retrospective "Love, Whitney" reached only No. 44, while 2000's "The Greatest Hits" made No.2. Houston's last studio album, 1998's "My Love Is Your Love," reached No. 1 during an epic 67-week run on the European survey, and was certified for shipments of three million units across the region. "I Look To You" posts best-selling starts in Germany and Italy, other arrivals including No. 2 in Sweden and No. 3 in France. The set is out in the U.K. on Oct. 19.

Guetta's "One Love" album maintains second place on the composite survey, falling 1-2 in France, 2-3 in the United Kingdom, 3-4 in Ireland and 2-5 in Germany. It's still No. 1 in the Belgian region of Wallony. Last week's pan-European chart-topper, Arctic Monkeys' "Humbug" (Domino), falls to No. 3 despite a second week as the U.K.'s most popular artist album on sales of 35,000. It dips 1-3 in Ireland and 2-8 in France.

Black Eyed Peas' "The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)" (Interscope/Universal) is down 3-4 overall, as it descends 3-4 in Wallony, 4-5 in the United Kingdom and 3-5 in France. Also down one place each on the aggregate chart are Michael Jackson's "King of Pop" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) and Lady Gaga's "The Fame" (Interscope/Universal), to Nos. 5 and 6 respectively.

New at No. 7 on Top 100 Albums is "Die Leibe Bleibt" (Koch) by Argentina-born "schlagers" artist Semino Rossi, after a No. 2 start in Germany. Kings of Leon's "Only By The Night" (Hand Me Down/Sony Music Entertainment) is up 20-8 in its 50th week on the composite survey, after the band's U.K.-televised appearances at the Reading and Leeds Festival produced a 22-4 turnaround there on new sales of 19,000.

German hip-hop, reggae and funk artist Jan Delay's "Wir Kinder Vom Bahnhof Soul" (Universal) is down 6-9 overall, falling 1-3 in Germany, while Beyoncé's "I Am...Sasha Fierce" (Columbia/Sony Music Entertainment) descends 8-10, despite moving 11-10 in Spain.

"Sexy Chick," which climbs 4-1 on the European Hot 100, follows Guetta's two weeks atop the survey in July with "When Love Takes Over," featuring Kelly Rowland, which this week holds at No. 3 Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" thus falls 1-2 while the highest new entry is "Run This Town" (Roc Nation/Atlantic/Warner Music) by Jay-Z featuring Rihanna and Kanye West at No. 5, after a U.K. debut at No. 1 on sales of 62,000.
