1985年2月14號歌壇新星誕生, 惠妮休斯頓首張同名專輯問世, 幾周內旋即打入Billboard專輯排行榜第166名。經過一年的宣傳曝光加上一首又一首的強打單曲, 隔年四月, 專輯成功登上冠軍寶座, 蟬聯七週後掉至亞軍三週, 接著再度回鍋冠軍七週, 專輯總共在榜超過三年(162週), 盤據前十名46週, 總冠軍週數長達14週。
