Access Hollywood's Top 10 Stars Of 2004

We at Access Hollywood love Lindsay Lohan. In fact, over the course of 2004, we count 50 stories that were done on the reigning teen queen. Unfortunately, that's still not enough for Lindsay to crack our list of top 10 headliners for 2004, although she did come close, finishing at No. 11. But with almost 300 shows and a total of roughly 4,000 stories in 2004, a whopping 20 percent were about 10 certain celebs.

Acess Hollywood 照2004年的新聞數選出本年度風雲人物,惠妮以全年52則新聞擠進十大,以下為完整前十名名單!

Whitney#10 Whitney Houston
Coming in at No. 10, with 52 stories this year on Access Hollywood, was embattled pop diva Whitney Houston. From her stint in rehab to the Harlem prayer vigil that had her mom singin' and Rev. Al Sharpton preachin,' Whitney made her presence felt. And while Whitney was busy cleaning up her act, husband Bobby Brown was back in jail for failure to pay child support.

But by June, the couple was steppin' out and in September, at the World Music Awards, Whitney proved she was back with an emotional rendition of "I Will Always Love You."

J Lo#9 Jennifier Lopez
Our No. 9 headline-grabber was Jen sans Ben. The breakup happened in January, beginning a streak of 54 Jennifer Lopez stories over the course of the next 12 months.

The two didn't exactly spend time pining for each other. He went house shopping while she was spending time in Miami recording with beau-to-be Marc Anthony (stay tuned!).

Nicole#8 Nicole Kidman
We were proud to have Aussie beauty Nicole Kidman on our show a total of 62 times in 2004, placing the actress eighth on our list. During on of her interviews, Kidman defended her somewhat controversial role in the movie "Birth."

"It wasn't about, 'Oh, I want to make a film where I get to kiss a 10-year-old boy," Nicole explained. "It was, 'I want to make a film where you're trying to understand love.'"

And while Kidman searches for the right man in real life, she told Nancy O'Dell she hasn't given up.
"I'm trying to raise my kids, be true to my work at the moment and then hopefully, someone will come along and sweep me off my feet," she smiled.

#7 Paris Hilton
Paris, dear Paris. How do we covet thee? Let us count the ways -- well, we count at least 63 stories on Paris Hilton, which makes the celebutante our No. 7 headliner.
But since Access is now a "Paris-free Zone," we move on...

Jessica#6 Jessica Simpson
Half of America's favorite "Newlyweds" finds herself in our No. 6 spot, as blonde bombshell Jessica Simpson graced our airwaves 69 times in 2004.  But amidst the discussions on the origins of buffalo wings and Chicken of the Sea, rumors were swirling about trouble in paradise for Jess and hubby Nick Lachey.

And with the rumor mill working overtime, Nick decided to play along.

"I just don't like her. In fact, I don't really love her. But, you know, she makes a lot of money and everyone needs a good sugar mama," Lachey joked with Access.  Jessica, meanwhile, took her dumb blonde act all the way to bank, as she landed the role of Daisy in the upcoming "Dukes of Hazzard."

Tom Cruise#5 Tom Cruise
The 72 stories we did on Tom Cruise ranks him No. 5 on our list of headliners, and he certainly earned it.

It seemed like everywhere you looked, Tom the terrific was turning up -- from promoting "Collateral" to scouting the world for "Mission: Impossible 3" to his highly publicized split with Penelope Cruz and even carrying the Olympic torch, Cruise certainly made his presence felt in 2004.

Michael Jackson#4 Michael Jackson
Our No. 4 headliner comes to us all the way from Neverland. Michael Jackson's 84 stories this year earns him the fourth spot on our list. However, we'd like to ask the King of Pop to dedicate his honor to our won Tony Potts, who throughout 2004, perpetually found himself positioned outside of the courthouse capturing all of the Michael mayhem. And as Michael's trial keeps rolling along, rest assured Jackson will find himself in our Top 10 list next year too.

Trump#3 Donald Trump
Our third place headline make had 94 stories -- and yet not a single moment of humility. Ladies and gentleman, the man who made getting "fired" a fad, the self-proclaimed ratings machine -- Donald Trump.

From the time he screened "The Apprentice" for us back in January and through both seasons, Access was by Trump's side as he also launched a new clothing line and even welcomed us into his home, and as he made his way to the ballot box on election day.

And when asked why his so many people were tuning in to his NBC reality venture, The Donald didn't even hesitate.

"I think it's because of me," he smiled.

Beyonce#2 Beyonce
Now, if there's one publicist in Hollywood who deserves a little something special under the tree for their work in 2004, it's whoever is beating the drum for our surprise runner-up, Beyonce.

R&B's "Naughty Girl" snagged an impressive 102 stories on our show this year, with a single malfunction, break up or scandal. All "B" had to lean on was good ol' fashioned hard work, as she hit the road for a solo tour and reunited with Destiny's Child. She also launched her own perfume and had quite a run on Grammy night, taking home five awards.

For that, we are pleased to make Beyonce our No. 2 headliner for 2004.

Britney#1 Britney Spears
With a whopping 119 stories, two weddings, two husbands, one Grammy nomination, one tour that was cancelled by one major knee injury, one greatest hits album with three new songs and one farewell letter posted on the Internet saying that she needed a break (no wonder), it's easy to see why we spent so much time on Britney Spears.

While it remains to be seen what 2005 will bring for the new Mrs. Spears-Federline, it's safe to say there's nothing we could say about her 2004 that hasn't already been said.

So with that, we simply say "Congratulations" Britney on being our No. 1 headliner for 2004!
